Launched in February 2017 by the canton of Geneva, Operation Papyrus had two ambitions: to eliminate undeclared employment in the sectors of the economy being particularly affected, and to regularize the residency status of a specific category of migrants without legal papers, based on strict criteria. By now – halfway through the project – more than a thousand people have had their status regularized. The results of the operation are very good, from both the human and the economic viewpoints.
