Founding of a police-population arbitration authority

The inception of a mediation authority to arbitrate between the police and the general public constitutes a historic moment. Its founding is one of the consequences of the entry into force of the new law governing the police. Designed as a neutral and independent body, the mediation authority is responsible for examining complaints filed by people having been investigated, charged or prosecuted by the police and considering that they have been the subject of unacceptable police action, and by members of the police force who consider that they have suffered maltreatment while carrying out their duties.
