“Mobility of the Future” is a project from the ABB Sécheron laboratories in Geneva, and has passed the 500,000 km milestone. For the anniversary of its first half-million kilometers since it entered service, TOSA (Trolleybus Power System Optimization) technology was paraded before the public on March 7, 2019, on the sidelines of the 89th Geneva International Motor Show.

It gave me a further chance to pay tribute to this extraordinary first 100%-electric high-capacity articulated bus – an innovation that will shortly enter operational service in Nantes, and that was designed by talent from Geneva.

TOSA was indeed the fruit of the combined work of a variety of public and private partners: Transports Publics Genevois (TPG), the Office for Promotion of Industries and Technologies (OPI) – of which I am also the responsible magistrate – the Industrial Services of Geneva (SIG), ABB Sécheron SA, and the Canton of Geneva.
